Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked to assist Gardai in a search for a missing person in the OBrien’s Bridge area. Irish Coast Guard Helicopter Rescue 115 and a large number of locals assisted in the night search which was stood down at 23:00 due to poor visibility. The search resumed at 07:00 the next day with three rescue boats from Killaloe Coast Guard conducting a search of the Headrace, and the lower R Shannon at O Brien’s Bridge. The Gardai, SARDA dog unit from South Kilkenny, Killaloe Coast Guard Land search unit with locals assembled at 08:30 to commence searching. At 08:40 a member of the public notified the Coast Guard that they had located the missing person. Gardai and Coast Guard attended the scene, the casualty was removed to Regional Hospital Limerick for post mortem.
