Killaloe Coast Guard Unit was tasked by their Regional Command Station at Valentia to a distress call on the River Shannon near Killaloe. A Power Cruiser had broken down at the mouth of the River just north of Killaloe with two persons on board. Due to the lack of precise information the Killaloe Coast Guard Unit had to conduct a search of the Area from the bridge north. The injured craft was located and along with its two passengers was towed to safety at Derg Marina.
Navigation of the River Shannon should not be undertaken at night, however if you find it necessary, make sure you have the proper safety equipment, lifejackets and fuel on board.
