Killaloe Coast Guard were called by a member of the public in the late hours of Good Friday who reported that a boat was taking on water approximately 1.5 km south of Killaloe Bridge with ten young adults on board.
Killaloe Coast Guard immediately dispatched their rescue boat to the scene who confirmed that a speed boat with twelve persons on board of which two had swam ashore. A second boat was dispatched to the scene to assist, the Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter at Shannon was placed on standby and the local Gardai notified. All the passengers were taken to safety and the injured craft towed to safe water.
Killaloe Coast Guard would request that boat owners should not navigate at night.
