Sea Kayak Solo Around Ireland

On June 4th of June departed his family home town of Cobh, Co. cork and is attempting to Sea Kayak Solo Around Ireland in under 35 days.  To meet his target he will have to cover an average of 30miles per day spending up to 12 hours in my trusty boat battling strong currents and gusting winds.
In his kayak he will carry all of the equipment he will need for the entire journey including food for up to 10 days at a time.  he will restock with food and water as he travels around and will hopefully meet up with some friends to get a hot shower and bed for the night.
Each evening he will make landfall and set up camp and spend the night in his tent before rising with the sun.  To fuel himself on the journey he will need to consume over 5,000 calories each day.
His kayak for the journey is a Sipre Murano Evo, she is quick stable and capable of carrying all his kit, and of course in the Red and white of Cork!!
Mike Jones is an active Irish Coast Guard Volunteer with the Killaloe Unit and hopes to raise funds for  the Children's Sunshine home and Laura Lynn House.
All the Irish Coast Guard Units around Ireland have been asked to look out and assist him in any way ie. a Bed, Hot meal, Hot Shower.
