Killaloe Coast Guard Unit were called to large diesel/oil spill at the Ballina side of R Shannon. Clare & Tipperary Co Co were notified. However as the flow of water had carried the spill down river Tipperary Nth Riding Co Co who were on scene notified Limerick Co Co as the main water intake for the City is situated at Castleconnell. Pollution booms were placed at Ballina Slip to soak any residue spill.Killaloe Coast Guard would ask that all boat owners take extreme care when fueling or cleaning their bilges.
