Swimmer Rescued From water at Twomilegate

Killaloe Coast Guard were tasked to a swimmer in difficulty at Twomilegate two miles from killaloe on the Scarriff Rd , Mobile and boat units attended the scene, two members of the Killaloe Coast Guard Crew entered the water and rescued a 43 year old male who got into difficulty and fortunately was wearing a wet suit, the casualty was taken from the water to the near by pier. The casualty was unconscious and suffering from hyperthermia at this time, an ambulance was already on the way and the Shannon based Coast Guard helicopter was also tasked to the scene. A landing site was prepared at Twomile Gate. The Ambulance Killaloe Garda and the Coast Guard Helicopter arrived on scene together and it was decided to stand the Coast guard helicopter down. The Casualty was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital by ambulance and was conscious at the time of departure.
